False friend: REALIZAR
In today’s post, we’re going to cover the Spanish verb realizar, which can be confused with the verb to realize/realise in English.
They are written very similarly, but their meanings are totally different. Realize in English means “to become aware of or understand something”, while realizar in Spanish means “to do, carry out or develop an action or project”.
Realizar:

- Ese director es famoso por realizar películas de época
- [That director is famous for making period films]
To realise/realize:

- I hope he realizes his mistakes soon
- [Espero se dé cuenta de sus errores pronto]
Once you realize this false friend (=darte cuenta de este falso amigo), you will be able to achieve your goals in Spanish (=realizar tus objetivos respecto al español).
